Interactive Services Help - Invalid Host

The invalid host message can be generated by several different reasons each of which is described below.

Browser Version

All LEXtranet applications have been designed to work with Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 and above or Netscape 6 and above. Please ensure that you are using one of these browsers, if not you can follow one of the links below to download them.

Cookies

Our application uses cookies to validate the site that is being used as a host, please make sure that your internet browser is configured to accept cookies.

Internet Explorer 6 introduced new privacy features that affect the way in which cookies are handled. Content that is not part of the hosting site is considered to be third-party content and IE6 will block cookies from these sites by default. To prevent this from happening stake the following steps:

  1. If IE6 blocks any cookies from a site the Privacy Report icon will be displayed on the status bar.
  2. Double click on this icon to open up the Privacy Report window



  3. One of the entries with cookies blocked will begin with http://extranet.lvl.co.uk. Right click on this entry and select "Always accept cookies from this site"



  4. Click on the close button.
  5. Hold down the CTRL key and click on the Refresh button on your browser's tool bar.

HTTP Referer

Some personal firewall software, such as Norton Internet Security, allows you to block the referring site beign passed. Please ensure that you set your software to allow the referrer to be passed by the hosting site.
